What's an Olio Supporter?
An Olio Supporter is someone who pays a subscription to Olio in order to get access to premium features within the app, and supports our mission at the same time.
We’re immensely grateful for the contributions from our Supporters as they help us grow the Olio community and our impact. This helps reduce more food and household waste and support more people. Find out more about our huge collective impact here.
What are the benefits of being an Olio Supporter?
On top of the feel-good factor of knowing you’re massively helping to fight waste, the current benefits of being an Olio Supporter include:
- An ad-free experience so you can quickly request listings without being interrupted
- A map view to see listings in your area
- A special Supporter profile
How much does Olio Supporter cost?
We have two packages; monthly and annual subscriptions. The cost of the monthly subscription is £4.99 and the annual subscription is £29.99 (£2.50/month - the cost of a cup of coffee!)
How do I become an Olio Supporter?
The easiest way to become a Supporter is to open the menu in the top right corner of the Olio app and then select ‘Support Olio’ at the top!
Why are some users on a lower price?
We were previously testing a number of different prices which is why some users may be on different prices still. Since May 2023, all new Supporters have been on the same price however if someone was a Supporter prior to this date they will remain on their original price plan for the time being (see below).
I’m on a lower price, will I be moved onto the higher price?
We have no immediate plans to move Supporters on the old pricing to the new pricing plan but can’t rule out doing this in the future. Any future price changes will be communicated at least 30 days prior to them taking effect.
Why can't I subscribe/make an in-app purchase?
You may have restrictions in place for in-app purchases. To remove this restriction please follow the steps below:
Android:
- Open up Play Store and then click the menu button located on the top left-hand corner
- Scroll down and select the Setting tab, where you will find the ‘Require authentication for purchases‘ option
- Tap that and then select ‘For all purchases through Google Play on this device‘
- If your phone sports a fingerprint sensor, then fingerprint authentication will be available as well
iOS:
- Go to device Settings
- Tap Screen Time
- Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions
- Turn on Content & Privacy Restrictions
- Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases
- Tap In-app Purchases.
- Check Allow
Does my Supporter subscription automatically renew?
Yes, your monthly and annual subscription renews automatically
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone:
- Tap here to view your Subscriptions page.
- Tap Olio.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
- To learn more, please visit Apple's support page.
On your Android phone:
- Tap here to view your Subscriptions page.
- Tap Olio.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
Billing
How are Subscriptions billed?
Your subscription will automatically renew every month or year from the date of purchase. You can cancel at any time.
Can I request a refund?
Android: You have up to two hours to return it for a full refund in Google Play. If you purchase the Supporter version again, you won't be able to return it a second time.
iOS: You may request a refund directly from Apple.

For FWH Volunteers
Do I have to become an Olio Supporter to continue to volunteer/to collect food from businesses as a FWH?
No, anyone can be a volunteer.
Can Olio Supporters have more collection slots?
No, becoming a Supporter has no impact on your FWH status.
Why aren’t FWHs getting access to the Supporter features for free?
Generating income via Supporter subscriptions is *critical* to help cover the costs associated with running the app, and so we need as many people as possible to become Olio Supporters, including Food Waste Heroes if they choose to. Being an Olio Supporter is completely separate from being a Food Waste Hero. We very much hope that Food Waste Heroes feel fulfilled, recognised and appreciated through their volunteering experience, the 10% allowance, and recognition within the app.
