Home and Explore
Why has Olio changed the app layout
Millions of users have signed up to Olio and within that, there is a huge range in how people use the app and their preferences. We hope that the new Home and Explore pages together accommodate a greater number of preferences and create more routes for engaging with listings. The new Home experience also gives a much broader view of all that Olio has to offer (beyond just free food), and in the future, we hope to use it as a space to deliver you ever more personalised and relevant content.
How do I change my location?
To change your location simply click the location field on the top left of the Home screen, directly underneath the greeting title with your name. Full FAQ here.
How do I look at listings from a single section e.g. free food only?
Either click one of the section cards at the bottom of the Home screen, or go into Explore and filter your favourite sections under ‘type’.
How do I sort listings by newest or closest?
All of the filters, including ‘sort by’ options, are available from within Explore, in the carousel ‘all’ lists and section card lists from within the new Home.
How do I search for something specific?
Searching for something is easy! Just head into Explore and use the search bar at the top of the screen.
Can I find listings that are ‘Just Gone’?
Unfortunately, you can no longer view or filter by listings that are ‘Just Gone’ on the listing views. You will still be able to see these on a user’s profile however.
Can I filter by FWH vs Personal?
Unfortunately, you can no longer filter listings by whether a Food Waste Hero or a personal user added them. You can still see whether a listing has been added by a FWH or not by looking for the “From [business name]” icon and text underneath the image within the listing details screen.
Can I set different search distances for different sections? E.g. Food and Non-Food
Yes, you can! It just works slightly differently from before. Go to Explore, set up the filters you want (e.g. free food), and then amend the search distance by clicking on the ‘distance’ filter button and amending your distance. If you then want to search a different distance for a different section then you can update both of these things by amending the section selected within the filters and then updating your search distance.
