Why do you accept non-food?

Olio’s mission is to tackle the problem of food waste. However we quickly found that our users started to share non-food items too. Because we hate any kind of waste, we thought that it made sense to create a separate section for these listings, rather than to delete them.

We have found that Olio is particularly useful for sharing non-food listings that users don’t want to sell, or ship across the country, or throw away, but that a neighbour would gladly take e.g. toiletries, cosmetics, cleaning products, kitchen equipment, books, toys, clothes etc.
