Will I be able to collect from Sainsbury’s on the same days that I previously collected?
Sainsbury’s wants to ensure the continuity of all pre-existing charity collections.
Charities have been invited to make their collection schedules known to FareShare, so that collections can be mapped directly to your charity's Olio account. You’ll be notified of this one week before your store goes live under the new partnership.
When will my collections switch over to Olio?
Sainsbury’s stores will transition over to Olio’s platform in regional batches, starting from March. We’ll let you know the exact date that your collection slots will switch over to the new process. Collection schedules will be visible in Olio’s app one week before your go-live date.
I’m a charity and have downloaded the app, but how do I claim a collection slot?
Your existing collection slots will be mapped to your Olio account based on the information you shared with FareShare.
Charities will be able to self-serve within the app to drop a slot, as well as seeing what slots are available to claim on an ongoing basis. If you’d like to add any additional collection slots to your weekly schedule, you’ll be invited to get in touch with FareShare.
When will I receive training on using Olio for the new collection process?
To support you during the transition, we'll be running optional online webinars to introduce you to how Olio works. You can either attend one of these live, or receive a recording to watch in your own time. We’ll send you an email with a link to sign up to one of these soon - keep your eyes peeled!
What should I expect when I first open Olio’s app?
When you first log in, you’ll see a series of introductory in-app stories that walk you through what to expect when using Olio, and how the app’s key features work (check out the Get started section at the top of the home screen).
Your collection slot(s) will show in the app one week before they go live, so don’t worry if they’re not visible immediately.
Otherwise, make sure notifications are turned on (look for the 🔔 icon in the top right-hand corner) so you don’t miss important updates.
How do I explore the app and find what I need?
Once you’ve logged in:
Use the menu (top right) to access additional features
Visit the Volunteer Hub to view schedules*, impact data and more
Check your profile to see your Volunteer ID and update your charity information
*If you can’t yet see your collection schedule, don’t worry - this will show in the app one week before your store’s go-live date. You’ll receive an email once it’s available.
What is the Volunteer Hub and what can I do there?
The Volunteer Hub can be accessed via the app using your login.
Once your store has gone live with the new process, this is where you’ll be able to:
Manage your schedule (collection confirmations still happen in the main app)
Skip or unassign collection slots if you can’t attend
View your impact data and track completed collections
What do I need to do after completing a collection?
After each collection, you’ll be asked to add a listing in the app. This:
Confirms that the collection took place and how many items you collected
Helps keep everything running smoothly
Allows accurate tracking and reporting
When adding your listing, you’ll only need to enter the total number of items received during your collection. This is a mandatory step, as it lets us know your collection was successful.
Your listing will not be published to the community. It will only be visible to the Olio team so we can keep an accurate record of your pick-ups.
You’ll be shown exactly how to add a listing during training (which you can complete in your own time, or by joining one of our upcoming training webinars) - so don’t worry if this doesn’t feel clear yet!
