All collection slots currently available near you can be viewed on the Volunteer Hub under Available Collection Slots.
I can't see any slots near me
There are a few reasons no slots are showing:
🗺️ Your location is set too far from the store. For food safety and environmental reasons, slots are only shown to volunteers living within a set distance of each store, so you don't have to travel far to collect.
🤷 There may be no participating stores near you right now.
🦸 The slots may have all been claimed already. Our community is brilliantly active, so slots often go quickly.
We cannot 'reserve' slots, and they are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, so please ensure you have your notification settings set up on the Volunteer Hub so that you are first to be notified when a new slot becomes available.
I know a slot is free but I still can't see it
If a slot has been skipped or unassigned and you know it's available but can't see it, the most likely reason is location. Your address is set too far from the store, so the slot isn't shown to you (the same food safety distance rule as above).
I can see a slot but can't claim it
If the slot shows but won't let you claim it, check these:
Your training or induction isn't complete. Finish all required modules first. Check the Available Collection Slots page or the Inductions tab
You've reached the daily slot limit. Food Waste Heroes can hold a maximum of 3 slots per day. See How many collections can I claim?
You've reached a store's per-volunteer limit. Some stores cap how many slots one volunteer can hold. To claim more, unassign a slot first. It can take up to 24 hours for the system to update after you unassign, depending on the timing of your last collection.
