TV and film sets: What to expect
Olio collects surplus food from TV and film sets across the UK and Ireland. 🎬
Due to the success of these collections so far, you can expect to see more of these slots on the Volunteer Hub over the coming months! 😊
There are a few things to expect with collections from production companies:
📍 Production teams are sometimes studio-based, but other times they will move around and may be based in a temporary location like an office, a field, a closed down store, or a car park.
📅 The majority of collections will be one-off slots, which will be added to the Volunteer Hub a few days in advance.
⏰ The schedule may change on the day, so we ask that you only claim this slot if you’re able to be flexible with pick-up times.
⚠️ Information about what is being filmed, and the location of collections, is strictly confidential. Please do not post about these collections on local social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, etc) or ask the team for additional filming details.
📲 There are normally lots of different onsite contacts, so we may ask you to join a Whatsapp group chat where they will confirm if there is food to collect. The contacts may not be able to get back to you straight away, so please be patient! 🤩
🍔 Most production companies donate surplus hot meals. Please check out our hot food FAQ for more information about sharing these items. Other productions will donate pre packaged items like sandwiches or salads.
Allergens must be included on the items that you collect, or provided by the caterers. As the menu can change every day, some production companies will give you the allergens sheet when you collect, and others will send the allergens into the Whatsapp chat. Please ensure that you include these in your listings / share these with your requesters. If your production site does not share allergen information with you, please ask them for it and also let us know by submitting an Issue Report form.
