Tesco Ireland: What can/cannot be collected


Tesco Ireland have shared guidance with us on food types that can and cannot be donated based on guidance from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.

Please do not ask store colleagues if you can collect items that are not allowed to be donated, but if you do collect these items by accident, please report this to Olio via the Issue Report form and do not share them.

Bakery Use By products with no freezing instructions including stir fry packs, bagged salads, coleslaw, prepared veg and fruit, sandwiches
Whole fruit and vegetables, herbs Counter or salad bar products
Prepackaged meat, fish, and poultry with freezing instructions Hot deli products e.g. cooked deli chicken
Other chilled foods with freezing instructions - ready meals, desserts etc. Products in damaged packaging which could lead to product contamination
Cheese* Baby food and infant formula
Eggs** Beers, wines, and spirits
Ambient grocery Anything past its Use By date
Non-food grocery Anything that could be unsafe e.g. punctured packaging, products not kept to temperature.

*Tesco can only donate cheeses that have a Best Before date, or a Use By date and is suitable for freezing

**Eggs can only be donated on or before their 'Display Until' date, not their 'Best Before' date
